Our Mission
We exist to break the cycle of poverty through free literacy programs, food rescue, and direct support for women and youth across 9 countries.
Empower Futurewave Foundation's mission is to "Enlighten Minds, Empower Lives" by serving underprivileged children, girls, youth, and women through free literacy services, financial assistance, and mental health support.
This mission is actualized through various programs and initiatives across multiple chapters worldwide, each tailored to address specific community needs. We work with local partners in each region, understand the challenges, and then develop and deliver a tailored solution that helps the children, girls, youth, and women of that region.
Navya Shah
Navya Shah founded Empower Futurewave Foundation in 2021, driven by a simple belief: every child deserves access to education, regardless of where they live.
What began as free English lessons for a handful of students in Mexico has grown into a global nonprofit serving 1,000+ students across 9 countries, with 1,600+ live classes delivered by a team of 30+ volunteer instructors.
Through the EmpowerEats initiative, Navya and her team have rescued over 15,000 meals for families in the Naperville and Chicagoland area. She partnered with Illinois State Senator Laura Ellman to educate restaurant partners on the Good Samaritan Food Donation Act — work featured in the Chicago Tribune and NBC's Making a Difference segment.
Navya is also the developer behind Bridge2Meal, a free iOS app that connects food donors directly with community shelters — winner of the Congressional App Challenge (IL-14). She has raised over $13,000 in grants and corporate support, and has engaged 35+ skilled corporate volunteers from companies including Walmart, Microsoft, Humana, Costco, LPL Financial, and Morningstar.
For the past five years, Navya has personally coordinated every single class across multiple time zones — preparing lesson materials, training new volunteers, and building relationships with local partners in Mexico, Guatemala, Vietnam, India, Peru, Tanzania, Colombia, and Myanmar.
Currently a senior at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois, Navya continues to lead Empower Futurewave with the same conviction: enlighten minds, empower lives.
Empower Eats
Empower Eats is our youth-led food rescue initiative dedicated to eradicating local food insecurity. Recognizing that consistent nutrition is the absolute foundation for education and self-sufficiency, we utilize our proprietary Bridge 2 Meal mobile application to bypass traditional supply-chain bottlenecks. The app connects commercial food donors, like local restaurants and caterers, directly with community shelters, allowing our network of youth volunteers to rapidly rescue and redistribute high-quality surplus meals to vulnerable families and individuals.
Global Literacy Services
We provide free weekly English and STEM classes to underprivileged children globally, focusing on practical skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. These interactive lessons, led by passionate educators and volunteers, are designed to empower learners to communicate confidently in English, thereby bridging gaps and creating opportunities.
EmpowerHer Initiative
This comprehensive support program offers financial assistance, essential resources, and critical support to girls, young mothers, and victims of domestic abuse. By providing direct financial aid, care packages, mental health support, and educational resources, we aim to foster resilience and self-sufficiency, helping individuals regain stability and build brighter futures.
Mindfulness and Yoga Programs
In partnership with Chicago Public Schools, we deliver mindfulness and yoga sessions to children and teens, promoting mental well-being and holistic development. These sessions combine movement, mindfulness, and breathing techniques, equipping young minds with tools to manage stress and cultivate inner calm.
